Mission Water Security: Successful inspection of 20 km of water lines using high-tech robots.
How do you inspect two massive water lines that run 20 kilometers long, have a diameter of 1.4 meters, and lie parallel just a few meters apart? With precision, cutting-edge technology, and a strong team spirit!
That’s exactly what Rosenxt Linegy achieved in the Netherlands in mid-September 2025. Together with PWN, the drinking water supplier in the province of North Holland, we deployed two inspection robots – one Multicam Robot and one Wirebreak Robot – to assess the condition of these prestressed concrete pipelines. They transport treated fresh water from the IJsselmeer, starting in Andijk and running to Hoorn – a vital part of the region’s water supply.
Each robot ran for 11 hours and successfully passed through the butterfly valve in the line – closely monitored by our team to ensure a smooth inspection . The combination of advanced inspection technology and our team’s expertise made it possible to complete the run flawlessly.
This project builds on our successful collaboration with PWN: back in 2021, the Water line was inspected using Multicam technology only. This time, we were able to add Wirebreak technology, providing even more detailed data and supporting the long-term safety of the network.
The project delivered a thorough condition assessment, representing another milestone in safeguarding the water supply for the people of North Holland, and underscored how technology, teamwork and trust make the difference, enabling millions to rely on clean, safe water every day.
